Meet “Drifter”

Found Sept. 18th
I first made my appearance to a nice family at the front of a neighborhood off Old Owen Rd and 254th Dr SE. They let me eat, visit outside with them, and say hello to their inside cats through the door. I was so grateful to know that they like cats and would keep an eye out for me.

Still Around Oct. 4th
I’m still trying to find somewhere to be that’s safe. It’s getting colder and rainy. A lady next to the first house heard me meowing in a scary place and let me jump into her yard. I followed her through her backyard after her dog went inside. So now I’ve found another nice neighbor with a porch I can visit! Good thing these people have some cat food on hand and places for me to hide out when needed!

I was taken to a local veterinarian today and they scanned me for a microchip, but nothing was found. Apparently I’m a girl cat who’s about a year old. Maybe I’ll get a warm home for my birthday?

Oct. 20th
I’ve been visiting back and forth with the families who have been nice to me. I’m mostly staying on the porch I’ve taken over from the family with the dog. They turned a wire dog crate into my personal heated den and feed me a few times a day. I’ve been told I can’t stay much longer out here though because the dog doesn’t like me much. I’m just happy to be dry and warmer.
Each morning when I get fed now, I’m also getting a snuggle in a warm towel. I was able to visit inside the garage for a couple hours yesterday while the lady was cleaning. Of course I was a typical kitten climbing on everything, but she didn’t get too frustrated with me. I was told I will be allowed to sleep in here inside a crate when it gets REALLY cold until I find a warm forever home. I need to pass a litter box test soon. Shouldn’t be too hard right?

What We Know About Me
I’m a female kitty who’s about a year old, maybe a little less.
I am not microchipped and no one seems to be looking for me on local Facebook Pages. I was reported as found on the Everett Animal Shelter page.
I’m healthy enough with no noticeable flea problem despite not having a set home. One was seen at one point, but we think it was just hitching a ride for a little bit since I’ve been hanging around outside.
I’m very social with people, you can even pick me up! Sit down and I’ll climb right into your lap.
I use a scratching post, but I’m a kitten so I’ll pretty much scratch on anything until taught different.
I was introduced to a litter box recently and used it multiple times in a 24 period. Yay! Now I use it regularly even with in/out access.
If I have to be an outside barn cat or am given access to garages I will help take care of mice and bugs for you! Inside I’ll happily chase down flies & stink bugs/conifer seed bugs.

Garage Night- Oct. 21st
Well, I passed the litter box test last night with flying colors. I’ve used it twice already! I did well in the garage overnight and had lots of fun chasing flies. I now have come-and-go access when the family is around until I find a home.

Oct. 23rd
Yesterday I “helped” a bunch in the garage while some cleaning and organizing was happening. I decided to weigh myself too. 6 pounds 1 oz! Still using a litter box and being a playful snuggly kitty :)

Oct. 27th
Well, we all survived the big local wind storms. Boy were they loud! I was lucky to hang out inside the garage during all that craziness. The lady gave me a fun toy to play with to keep busy, and I help keep bugs and rodents out of the garage in exchange. I am still looking for a furrever home, so if you have a warm space for me to play and snuggle please let us know.

Nov. 3rd
Despite disappearing overnight during Halloween, I’ve been doing just fine. I’m back to being inside at night and allowed to wander in/out during the day. I’m so very playful and occasionally get in trouble for scratching on things I shouldn’t…but that will be solved once I find a permanent home! Many of the local rescues are too full to take me, so word of mouth will need to be key this month to get me somewhere new and safe.

Nov. 8th
I’m quite the huntress! I found this snake in the garage and knew it wasn’t supposed to be there, so I kept track of it until the lady came and brought it outside. She keeps me safe so I’ll help out.
-

Nov. 13th
Still hanging out and safe from the elements. I have a few play sessions a day and plenty of exploring in the garage when I’m not napping inside my open & heated cat crate.

Nov. 21st
I went off to a local cat-loving home tonight to settle in. I’ll meet some new cat friends soon too! Hopefully they like me. I get to stay nice and warm, safe, and will get spoiled plenty. :)
Want to Play?.
This was Oct 5th. Both neighbors looking out for me have inside cats. Maybe you have a friendly cat or human who would play nice with me?
